Support Worker X4

Location: Magnolia House, Bicester Oxfordshire

Full time: Permanent  

Salary: £XX - £XX per annum plus additional sleep in allowance of £30 per sleep. (Subject to successful probation and previous experience/Qualification).

Homes2Inspire specialise in working with young people in a residential home, and have comprehensive experience in providing specialist, welfare and educational based support, interventions and guidance to children and young people with complex emotional and behavioural difficulties. 

The role of a Residential Youth Support Worker involves supporting and helping the young people achieve their potential by building positive family and peer relationships, providing emotional support and encouraging the young person to achieve their highest outcomes, whilst meeting the young people’s daily needs. The role of Residential Youth Support Worker requires an aspect of professional parenting meaning to adopt a parental role with professional boundaries in place. 

 

As a Residential Youth Support Worker you will also be required to: 

  • • Ensure the protection and safeguard the wellbeing of the young people in our care. 
  • • Provide daily support and education to the young people on their domestic chores, including basic life skills. 
  • • To create a positive and nurturing environment for the young people with professional boundaries. 
  • • Demonstrate to the young people the value of education, care and development to achieve better outcomes. 
  • • Build and create mutual trust and respect with young people in order that they respond and react appropriately to information and advice. 
  • • Define structures and boundaries of behaviour to young people, acting as a positive role model, so they understand daily routines expected. 
  • • Produce, maintain and distribute house paperwork to ensure relevant information is recorded accurately and is available. 
  • • Control and analyse the young people’s behaviour to encourage them to participate in a positive structured routine. 
  • • Create and produce activities to occupy and develop young people in order that they gain life skills and education on an informed basis. 
  • • Maintain knowledge of and apply the relevant legislative, regulative and standards against inspection framework requirements. 
  • • Provide basic advice and skills to young people on managing their finances and other everyday life skills.

  • • A modular training programme prior to commencement of role

  • • Fully funded QCF Level 3 

As a residential provision this is a 52 week/24-hour service. You will be required to work a shift pattern which includes early/late shifts and sleep-in duties when required at an additional allowance.

Paul Maginnis - Senior Education Engagement Coordinator

Paul joined Homes2Inspire in June 2016. Prior to joining Homes2Inspire, Paul worked as an employability adviser helping NEET young people into employment, education and training. Paul is a qualified careers adviser has a passion for helping young people fulfil their potential, whether it be academically or vocationally.

Angela Day - Education Engagement Coordinator

Angela has worked in secondary school settings since 2009 working predominately in pastoral management. In this role Angela worked alongside social services, pupil referral units and various alternative provisions. Moving onto a position as Careers and Business Enterprise Coordinator in 2017 Angela qualified as a careers adviser before joining Homes2Inspire in April 2019.

Laura Trow - Education Engagement Coordinator

Laura joined Homes2Inspire in January 2020. Laura has a degree in Youth and Community Development as well as a PGCE in Further Education. Laura has worked with young people for 12 years in different educational settings, including schools, colleges and prisons. Laura’s previous roles have given her experience in pastoral care, IAG and course design and delivery.

Prioritising Education

Homes2Inspire have three dedicated Education Engagement Coordinators who are the link between the home, the local authority and the school. They advise on admissions, attend statutory meetings to advocate for our young people and provide career's advice across all homes.

Delivering Qualifications
As a registered Youth Awards Provider, we encourage all our young people to complete the Asdan Accredited Youth Achievement Awards. The awards range from Bronze to Platinum which upon completion, the young person will be credited UCAS points.
Assessing Development
We use the Boxall Profile to track the progress of cognitive development and behavioural traits of our young people. We work with local authorities and schools to identify and implement strategies for development and how we can best support them.
